chapter one

summary ~ the story starts out in a battle field when one boy runs up and tells the rest that he heard other people say that they were finnally going to start to fight . some of the boys believe him and the rest dont . he goes to lie down and has this flashback . Henery is the main charactor and he is from a small town . he tells his mom he wants to join the army but she tells him he's crazy. the next day he goes and joins anyway. when he tells his mom and gets ready to leave when his mom tells him she made him 8 pairs of sox and got his best warmest clothes caus she wants him to be the warmest person and she tells him to staya away from bad people. then she starts to cry and he tells her goodbye. he then continues to look around his "house".
