henry: he is the main charactor who in the whole story doesnt really know who he is or what to do he is scared at the begining but in the end is a leader and rolemodle.
jim cocklin:jim is a very loud soldier. he gets shot early on and soon dies from his wounds.
wilson:wilson is henry's friend who fights well with him. they keep each other going .
tattered soldier:the tattered soldier is sort of henry's concience. he tells henry what he doesnt want to hear.
leutenant:the leutenant is not a person that henry likes and they dont see eye to eye henry is constantly critisising his methods.
henry's mom:his mom is only talked about in the begining but she didnt want him to go into war.
