thesis paper gatsby

Because of his honesty Nick is the only character who does not loose everything.

This book portrays people as being greedy, selfish and dishonest. i think that all of the characters in this book are portrayed this way accept for Nick Calloway. I think this because he had many experiences in his childhood he is honest, he sticks to his morals and he was just an all around nice guy. The theme that I chose is lose. The characters in this book lived in a way that made lose inevitable.

One of the reasons that Nick didn't loose everything is that he grew up with lots of opportunities , a father that taught him not to judge people and that if you tell the truth you will get farther in life. this helped him out when he first went to daisy's house there was allot of gossip and nick choose to find out about people for himself not through what others say. if he judged people he wouldn't have found a friend in Gatsby. this quote shows how his dad raised him to be. "whenever you feel like criticizing any one just remember that all the people in this world haven'thad the advantages that you've had" (1 fitzgerald).

Another good quality that nick has that separates him from the others is that he sticks to his morals . he showed this when Gatsby asked him if he wanted to get involved in some "work" for him. Nick had a feeling that the job was shady so he politely said that he had too much to do already. he knew it would be wrong to take the job and even though it would get him lots of money he knew he couldn't do it with a clean conscience.

And the main last thing that makes him not loose everything is honesty. inn the book Nick says,"Every one suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine : i am one of the few honest people that i have ever known" (59 Fitzgerald). because he is honest he didn't get involved with the affairs and people respected him more. all of the other characters had times were if they told the truth the outcome of the events would have been much different.

So in conclusion if everybody was like Nick in the sense that they were honest, didn't judge people , and stuck to there morals then Gatsby would still be alive, Daisey's family would not be broken apart and the Wilson's would be alive.

Has the writer convinced you? Why or why not? No, While reading, I found it hard to focus in on it and want to continue reading. The introduction didn't catch my attention very well.

Make things a little more clear. Your citations need to be flipped (author page). Your thesis should be the last sentence of your introduction paragraph.

Defend rating Things need to be a little more clear and you need to make sure the introduction catches the readers attention.

No, because one of the paragraphs didn't make any sense and it sounds like your pulling stuff out of your butt

This is kinda vague. You need more ideas to back it up and you need a clearer thesis. Also need one more quote and they aren't cited correctly.

5/10-need more info to back up your argument
